Request a colon cancer screening stool test online

For adults 45 to 75 at average risk and without symptoms who are due for colorectal cancer screening.

Start a $199 online review for Colon cancer screening.

A stool test may be a screening option if you are 45 to 75, have average risk, and have no symptoms. The physician checks your risk before placing an order and personally reviews the result. A positive result leads to a colonoscopy referral, not another stool test.

If treatment is appropriate, your physician can send a non-controlled prescription to your pharmacy and provide portal instructions for the next step.

Look for another care setting

  • Heavy rectal bleeding, black or tarry stools, dizziness, fainting or a racing heart with any bleeding, or severe belly pain with vomiting or a swollen, hard abdomen (emergency).
  • Any blood in the stool or rectal bleeding, iron-deficiency anemia or unusual tiredness, unexplained weight loss, a change in bowel habit, or belly pain that keeps returning (these are symptoms and need a prompt evaluation, not a screening test).
  • A personal history of colorectal cancer, polyps (adenomas), Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis.
  • A parent, sibling or child with colorectal cancer or advanced polyps before age 60, two or more such relatives at any age, or a hereditary syndrome such as Lynch syndrome or familial polyposis.
  • A screening test that is still current (a complete, normal colonoscopy within 10 years, a stool DNA test within 3 years, a CT colonography or sigmoidoscopy within 5 years, or a FIT within the last year), or a positive or incomplete test that was never followed up.
  • Age 76 or older.

What to have ready

  • Your personal and family history relevant to colon cancer screening

What happens next

Start the request on the website, answer a few questions to check that this visit fits you, and choose how fast you want an answer (the response window). If your concern still fits this service, a physician reviews it and sends you a secure update after you sign in. When appropriate, non-controlled prescriptions can be sent to your pharmacy, and a basic work or school note can be included at physician discretion.

Which stool screening tests can I discuss?

Options include a FIT stool test (a test for hidden blood in the stool) once a year, or a multitarget stool DNA test (one that checks the stool for more than one sign) such as Cologuard every 3 years, for people with no family history of colorectal cancer (cancer of the colon or rectum). The doctor confirms whether you are at average risk and which option fits you.

What happens if the result is positive?

The physician reviews your result personally. A positive test leads to a colonoscopy referral, never a repeat stool test. A negative result sets the next screening date.

Can I use this test to check blood in my stool?

No. Blood in the stool, anemia, unexplained weight loss, a change in bowel habits, or recurring belly pain needs a prompt evaluation. This visit is for screening people without symptoms.
