Usually a good fit

• We review common concerns for adults — and, for some conditions, children 4 to 17 — using your answers and, when it helps, a photo.
• Issues where we can give a safe next step without an office exam or live appointment.
• Adults in Virginia or West Virginia who are comfortable with online, message-based care. For some conditions, children 4 to 17 can also get care, with a parent or legal guardian.

Not a fit — go in person instead

• Controlled substances of any kind.
• Any condition that needs a hands-on exam, in-person monitoring, or in-person testing. Long-term conditions aren't always ruled out, though: some stable ongoing conditions may qualify after a clinician reviews your case. Examples include blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol, thyroid problems, asthma, anxiety, depression, and erectile dysfunction (see our conditions page for the full list). Whether you get treatment or a refill depends on what is medically appropriate for you and how much monitoring you need.
• Managing chronic pain, or ordering imaging tests like X-rays or MRIs.
• Disability forms, workplace leave paperwork (including FMLA), or other formal paperwork.
• Emergency symptoms — chest pain, trouble breathing, fainting, or severe dehydration.
• Signs of a serious infection, a severe allergic reaction, or another unstable condition.
• Anything that needs a hands-on exam or more testing in person.
