This visit is for refilling a routine, non-controlled medication you already take and have been stable on, so you don't go without it. We prescribe and refill routine, non-controlled ongoing medicines, including chronic care. It does not start anything new or change a dose. (If your medication is for thyroid, asthma, cholesterol, or blood pressure, ongoing refills continue through their own dedicated check-in visits instead.) A short list of medications and situations are never refilled this way (including any controlled substance, insulin or complex diabetes regimens, blood thinners, and medications that need regular lab monitoring) because those need a clinician who knows your ongoing history.

If treatment is appropriate, your physician can send a non-controlled prescription to your pharmacy and provide portal instructions for the next step.
